Valentine's Day deals

Keep the costs low and the romance high

Romance is lovely, but over-commercialised pressure isn't, and there are plenty of free things you can do instead of buying gifts (such as using our free gift cheques). Yet if you are going to spend (there's really no need), we've rounded up the top Valentine's Day 2026 deals below, including £3.45 for 12 roses, £10 Champagne, meal deals from £10, and more.

Free Valentine's ideas

Sunday only

Uniform or ID required. Free travel to London on Saturday too

If you're currently serving in the armed forces or a veteran, you can get FREE train travel to and from Remembrance services on Sunday 8 November. If you're attending a service in London, you can also travel for free on Saturday 7 November – but free return travel is only available on Sunday 8 November.

Those eligible can travel for free on the National Rail network, which has routes and stations across England, Scotland and Wales. Unfortunately this means free travel isn't available in Northern Ireland as it's not part of the network.

If you're planning to take advantage of the offer, National Rail says to check your journey before travelling as planned engineering works may affect some routes over the weekend. You can do this using the National Rail website or National Rail App.

FREE train travel to Remembrance services for armed forces personnel & veterans.

Who's eligible to travel for free?

All serving UK military personnel and veterans attending a Remembrance service in Britain can claim free return travel on Sunday 8 November. Those attending a Remembrance service in London can travel for free to any London terminal station on Saturday 7 November or Sunday 8 November, and return for free on Sunday 8 November.

Serving personnel or veterans of non-UK armed forces aren't eligible for free travel.

How do you travel for free?

If you're currently serving in the UK armed forces, you can travel for free by travelling in uniform or showing a current MOD90 Ministry of Defence-issued identity card.

If you're a veteran of the UK armed forces, you can travel for free by showing a Ministry of Defence-issued veterans ID, Veterans' Oyster card, Veterans' Railcard or "other appropriate proof of veteran status" such as evidence you receive an armed forces pension.

Rail Delivery Group, the rail industry body, told us that to travel for free, those eligible should present their proof to staff in the train station they're travelling from or to staff on board the train they're travelling on.

What services can you travel on?

If you're eligible, you can travel for free at any time on Sunday 8 November (and Saturday 7 November if travelling to London). But you can only travel in standard class, not first class.

You can travel for free with almost all National Rail train companies – full list below in the 'More info' section. But Eurostar and Transport for London (TfL) services, including Elizabeth Line, London Overground and London Underground, aren't included in the offer.

Battle of the Baileys

Normally £22

Every year during the festive season, we see the 'Battle of the Baileys', with many major supermarkets slashing the price of Baileys Original 1L bottles (normally £22-ish).

Currently, Sainsbury's is cheapest, offering a 1L bottle for £10 in-store and online in England (£11.05 in Scotland and Wales) with a Nectar card until Wednesday 2 December.

The next cheapest price is £13 at Amazon*, Asda, Morrisons* and Tesco* (with a Clubcard).

We’ll update this page as soon as new Baileys offers crop up.

Will it get any cheaper?

The cheapest we've seen it this year is £9.97 in the last week of October, so the current £10 Sainsbury's Nectar price is only 3p off this year's low. The cheapest we've ever seen is £8.50 at Morrisons for More Card members, though that deal required a minimum £45 spend on groceries.

Amazon, Asda, Morrisons and Tesco all reduced the price of Baileys to £10 or less last month, but have since increased the price. Last year, we saw Baileys reduced to £10 in December, so we reckon there's a good chance at least some of these retailers will offer £10 or less again in the next few weeks.

If you want to stock up now, £10 is a strong price. We may see other retailers match or beat it in the coming weeks, but we wouldn't expect it to get much cheaper.

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
