Strong for fragrance, with more products likely to come

As predicted, Boots* kicked off its Black Friday sale on Wednesday 28 October with 3,000+ discounted products.

How good is the sale? So far, we've found Boots particularly competitive for fragrance, while many of the skincare deals we've checked have been price-matched or beaten elsewhere.

If you spot something you want at a good price, we wouldn't necessarily wait for Boots to cut it further, as we're not expecting discounts on existing sale items to deepen. However, many rival retailers are yet to launch their Black Friday sales, so it's still worth comparing prices before buying.

Some deals we found on Tuesday 3 November include:

Will more deals be added? We think so. Last year's sale launched with a similar number of discounted products, before a further 1,400 were added closer to Black Friday itself (Friday 27 November this year).

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you're getting the best deal – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

Boots 'Star Gift' including night cream, serum, primer & more

The No7 Ultimate Skincare Collection* nine-piece set is normally £85 online at Boots, but if you enter the code ULTIMATESAVE at checkout, you'll get it for £39, while stock lasts – saving you more than half-price. Delivery is free, as is click & collect.

This deal is part of Boots' annual 'Star Gifts' promotion, which is always popular with MoneySavers. These sets are great to buy as a bundle or to split up into individual gifts for festive hampers and birthdays throughout the year.

Boots says the contents of the set would cost £149.81 if bought separately, but we've worked out it'd be £92 when factoring in the current No7 3for2 offer.

This year's No7 beauty Advent calendars* are here. Yes, it's very early to be talking about 'Advent' calendars, but they're a great way of bagging your wish list beauty products at a fraction of the normal cost, or for dividing up as gifts throughout the year.

We've full details of each calendar's contents below, but briefly, there's a £65 calendar which we've calculated has £243 of No7 beauty in it, and a £180 one with £411 of stuff.

Delivery is free, and orders will be shipped within standard Boots timescales, so there's no extra wait. The Advent calendars are in stores from Thursday 3 September.

Link Boots Advantage Card with a valid Student ID

Student can get 10% off selected items at Boots* online and in-store (find your nearest*).

Update 12.30pm, Friday 9 October: Boost has boosted its student discount to 20% off selected items when they enter the code STUDENT20 at checkout until Monday 12 October.

To get the 10% student discount you'll need to:

1. Sign up to the free Boots Advantage Card* via the app or online.

2. Head into a Boots store and go to the till to link your Boots Advantage Card with a valid student ID. Unidays, Student Beans or TOTUM IDs, both digital and physical, are accepted. Your ID must have a valid end date.

To continue to use the offer, you'll need to repeat step two above to reactivate your discount on 1 September each year to be able to use the discount for another year, if you're eligible (it doesn't continuously roll over).

How good is this deal? We've previously seen Boots boost the discount to 20% off for a limited time (for example, we saw it from Friday 15 August until Monday 18 August). Boots occasionally offers discounts of 10%-20% for all, but these tend to come with a minimum spend or brand restrictions. So, if you're after specific products, the 10% off is a good ongoing offer.

Via Advantage card app for the month of your birthday

If you're a member of the Boots Advantage Card* scheme, you can get double points for your birthday month via the Boots app*.

To qualify, you'll need to have given Boots marketing permission. Then, you'll receive either a digital communication or direct mail through the post.

You'll need to add the promotion manually to your Advantage Card via the app before swiping it in-store, or you won't get your double birthday points.
